5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? This year I'm a cheerleader of TeamSherlock (do you believe it? Sherlock Holmes is my favourite character!!!!

4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? I went out with my friends and I have to work, so I have little time. I'm very disappointed for this.
5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? The time is going fast, too fast.

I chose this photo because I'm reading "Night train to Lisbon" in which the main character is a philologist who has always lived in his books and found a comfort-zone in bookshops. He often watches the events of his life from an external point of view, as if he were in front of a shop-window.

Minichallenge:"Classic Words of Wisdom" by A literary Odyssey

The  words I chose are the ones from The Wizard of Oz. The idea of Home is everythingfor me. I surely love my very home, but I also try to feeling at home in every situation I face. If I don't feel at home, well, that situation is not for me. I try to build a piece of Home in every experience I make.

Giornata Mondiale del libro

Vi siete accorti che oggi è la Giornata Mondiale del libro? Tutti i miei social sono inondati di immagini di libri, citazioni, eventi di lettura... Che giorno meraviglioso!

In Spagna la Giornata del libro ha un'origine antichissima, che giace nella leggenda di San Giorgio. Sconfitto il drago, San Giorgio regalò una rosa alla principessa. Il 23 Aprile quindi rose e libri invadono le strade spagnole. 

Per l'occasione in Italia è stata promossa l'iniziativa #ioleggoperché ed io sono diventata una messaggera. Mi è stato affidato il compito di diffondere l'amore per la lettura e regalare i libri che mi sono stati consegnati appositamente per questa iniziativa. Se riuscirò a convincere anche una sola persona che leggere è qualcosa di magico, allora sarò soddisfatta.

Per me leggere è essenziale, è qualcosa che ho sempre fatto, fin da bambina, e che mi ha accompagnato in ogni momento della mia vita. I libri ci sono stati quando era difficile trovare conforto nel mondo, ma anche quando tutto era perfetto. I libri sono stati l'occasione per imparare, viaggiare, sognare, vivere vite diversissime che ora fanno parte di me. Leggere, può sembrare paradossale, è la mia maniera di esprimermi. Con un libro in mano sono sempre a casa. 

Proprio per questo ho deciso di partecipare un'altra volta al Dewey's Readathon, l'unica maratona a cui io, che sono pigrissima, potrei mai partecipare! Il 25 Aprile, lettori di tutto il mondo cercheranno di leggere quanto più possibile nell'arco di 24 ore. Io non vedo l'ora! Ci saranno mini-sfide ogni ora e cheerleaders pronte a fare il tifo! Mi piace questo evento perché permette di abbattere il solito stereotipo che la lettura è un fatto solitario. Questa maratona è infatti un'occasione di socialità!

Today is a great day! It's the World Book Day! So guys have fun and read a lot!

Do you know that today in Spain people exchange roses and books? It's better than Valentine's day! This is an ancient tradition to celebrate Saint George who gave a rose to a princess, after defeating the dragon.   

To celebrate World Book Day in Italy has been promoted the initiative #ioleggoperché (literally i-read-because)and I decided to become a messenger. My job is to spread the love of reading, giving around the books that I received expressly for that. Will I succeed in rising new readers?

I think that reading is a magic thing. Reading has been with me since I was a child. I lived thousands lives thanks to the books I have read. I dreamed, travelled, learnt. Books are my home.

So I decided to join Dewey's Readathon. It's a faboulous marathon, in which you have to read read and read! I love it because reading becomes a social moment that you can share with hundreds of people from all around the world. Me and my sister wrote a post about it. If you want, you can read it here!

A Year of Books

All'inizio di questo 2015 Mark Zuckerberg ha deciso di intraprendere una sfida personale: leggere un libro ogni due settimane. Mark, l'inventore della Condivisione sui social, ha invitato tutti noi lettori a seguirlo in questo viaggio. Io, che amo le sfide, amo leggere e amo i club di lettura, ho accettato di entrare a far parte di questo Club Mondiale del Libro! Per il momento i libri scelti da Mark riguardano tematiche molto attuali e si tratta in tutti i casi di saggistica. Non credo che Mark abbia intenzione di proporre romanzi, ma in ogni caso seguire queste letture può essere molto istruttivo. In particolare sono contenta di leggerli in inglese, così faccio pratica!

Io li ho iniziati tutti, ma per il momento non ne ho finiti molti. Due settimane non sono moltissime, specialmente visto che intanto sto leggendo altri libri! :-)

Gang Leader for a Day

Cos'è: Un saggio scritto da un sociologo americano che, durante i suoi anni universitari, si introduce nell'ambiente della periferia di Chicago, legandosi al capo della gang del luogo. 

Da leggere perché: Si tratta di un punto di vista interno e ravvicinato, che permette di capire meglio alcune dinamiche di una gang, ma soprattutto la distanza tra persone che vivono vite e ambienti diversi.  Si legge veloce veloce come un romanzo.

What is: The personal story of a young sociologist who studied a Chicago-based crack-dealing gang. 
I liked it because: It seems a novel, easy-to-read and very interesting. This book underlines the difference between people raised in different environments.

Creativity, Inc.

What is: An essay about the power of creativity and originality. 
I liked it because: The book is written by the co-founder of Pixar. And who did not love Pixar?
